- AMIGA MUSICIANS FREEWARE MAGAZINE
-
- (AM/FM)
-
- GENERAL INFORMATION FILE
-
- REVISION 02
-
-
-
-
- 1) What is AM/FM ?
- 2) Financial situation of AM/FM
- 3) How often is AM/FM released?
- 4) Copyright / Copying / Selling AM/FM
- 5) Where and how can I get AM/FM?
- 6) How to subscribe for future issues of AM/FM
- 7) AM/FM Dealers wanted / how to become an AM/FM Dealer
-
-
-
- 1) WHAT IS AM/FM ?
-
- AM/FM (Amiga Musicians Freeware Magazine) is a disk-based magazine
- especially made for everyone who has an Amiga and is interested in music.
- Whether you're into composing music, collecting music, arranging music,
- studying music, or even if you just like listening to good music, then
- AM/FM has lots to offer you.
-
- Each issue of AM/FM consists of two disks: The Magazine Disk, and the
- Sample Disk. They are always released together, but if you want to buy
- AM/FM, you don't have to buy both disks - you can choose just one of them
- if you prefer that.
-
- The AM/FM Magazine Disk contains music, articles, music utilities, news,
- reviews, MIDI music, tutorials, hints & tips, tech-corners, and everything
- about music in general. Everything is nicely laid out with a menu and
- running with system-friendly routines, so that the magazine won't crash
- your computer, and so that you can easily take out the files and examine
- them and/or copy them to other disks etc. The AM/FM menu system was
- programmed by Teijo Kinnunen, the author of MED and OctaMED.
-
- The AM/FM Sample Disk is filled up with new and fresh superb quality
- sound samples for use in any music editor or sound sampling package. The
- AM/FM production staff has access to the very best in synthesizers and
- sampling CD's etc. A special group of instruments, or a special synthesizer
- is the "theme" of each AM/FM sample disk. For example, AM/FM Sample Disk #2
- contains orchestral winds sounds, #3 contains Death & Horror sound effects,
- #6 contains only sounds from the Korg Wavestation, etc.
-
-
- 2) FINANCIAL SITUATION OF AM/FM
-
- AM/FM is not being produced for financial gain, but simply for pleasure and
- interest. The magazine is being distributed by the AM/FM production staff
- themselves, and by selected PD distributors who support our work. When a PD
- distributor sells an AM/FM disk, a small part of the price for this disk is
- given to the production staff, so that they can continue producing the
- magazine without losing any money on it. If the production staff should
- gain more money than they have spent on AM/FM, and they get a profit, then
- this money will be used to pay programmers and musicians to produce high
- quality material for use in AM/FM. So whatever money is gained on AM/FM, is
- put back into the magazine, to create an even better product.
-
-
- 3) HOW OFTEN IS AM/FM RELEASED
-
- AM/FM does not follow specific release dates. Rather than rushing towards a
- date, we prefer waiting until we have enough good material to release a
- good product. In other words, we will collect quality material until a disk
- is 100% full, and then we release it.
-
- 6 issues have been released within a little under a year, so there has been
- about 6-8 weeks between each issue so far. This may vary, but it will never
- take longer than 10-11 weeks, we promise.
-
-
- 4) COPYRIGHT / COPYING / SELLING AM/FM
-
- You are allowed to copy AM/FM to your friends.
-
- But you are not allowed to take any money for it, not even a small fee to
- cover for the disk and postage. You may not take one single penny for it.
- AM/FM is Freeware and may only be copied For Free.
-
- If you take any money at all for it, it will be regarded as selling the
- magazine, and then you must fulfill the royalty demand from the production
- staff, and send a royalty of 1 UK POUND for each AM/FM disk you sell.
- Before doing this, you must become an "AM/FM Dealer". (More on that below).
-
-
- 5) WHERE/HOW CAN I GET AM/FM ?
-
- You can either buy AM/FM directly from the AM/FM production staff, or from
- any AM/FM Dealer. If you buy it directly from AM/FM, it will be a bit more
- expensive, but you will also receive it as soon as it's released. It takes
- a few days or weeks before it is available from the Dealers. Also, if you
- buy many disks at a time, the price will be about the same if you buy it
- directly from AM/FM, because if you buy it from AM/FM, it will get cheaper,
- the more disks you buy.
-
- You can also subscribe to future issues, if you buy directly from AM/FM. As
- far as we know, no AM/FM dealers offer this possibility.
-
- If you want to buy AM/FM disks directly from the AM/FM staff, or if you
- wish to subscribe to future issues of AM/FM, send your order to:
-
- AM/FM
- c/o Bjorn Lynne
- Schleppegrellsgt. 10
- 0556 Oslo
- NORWAY
-

- between 11 and 12 for each disk.
-
- For payment, please transfer the applicable amount to the Norwegian Post
- Giro account number 0824 0681472, or send a cheque made out to: BJORN A.
- LYNNE, who will then transfer the cheque into the account.
-
- Remember to write down exactly which AM/FM Magazine Disks and/or which
- AM/FM Sample Disks you want. Write your name and address clearly.
- (Preferably by printer or typewriter).
-
- The disks will be sent to you immediately when we have received the money.
- If you've sent a cheque, we will see if the cheque is valid before we send
- you the disks.
-
-
- 6) HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO FUTURE ISSUES OF AM/FM
-
- Making sure you get your future issues of AM/FM as soon as they are
- released is very simple. Just send us your order and tell us which issues
- you are paying for. You will be entered into a database, and when the new
- issues are released, you will receive them immediately.
-
- Say, for example, that you want to buy the first 10 issues of AM/FM, with
- both the Magazine Disks and the Sample Disks. That's 20 disks total. Simply
- send money for 20 disks, and write in your order: "I WANT AM/FM MAGAZINE
- DISKS 1-10 AND AM/FM SAMPLE DISKS 1-10". Then, you will immediately receive
- the disks that have already been released, whereas the future disks will be
- sent to you as soon as they are released.
-
-
- 7) AM/FM DEALERS (WANTED!)
-
- The AM/FM production staff is still looking for more AM/FM Dealers in all
- European countries and USA. If you are running a PD company, or if you are
- thinking of starting one, or if you would just like make a little extra
- money by distributing AM/FM, then feel free to get in touch and become an
- AM/FM Dealer.
-
- If you want to sell AM/FM disks, then each disk you sell must have an
- original AM/FM disk label on it. These labels can be bought from the AM/FM
- production staff, at 1 UK POUND each. If you sell an AM/FM disk without an
- original AM/FM disk label, then you are violating the AM/FM copyright and
- you will get in trouble with all the registered AM/FM Dealers and the AM/FM
- Prouction Staff.
-
- So you must first buy disk-labels from AM/FM, and then you can sell as many
- disks as you have labels for. Then you buy more labels, and so on. You can
- choose whatever price you want to sell the AM/FM disks for. As long as we
- get our 1 GBP per disk sold, we will not interfere with how you sell it,
- price it or market it.
-
- As long as you buy a minimum of 10 disk labels each month (anyone can sell
- 10 disks a month), you will have status as an AM/FM Dealer, and you will
- automatically receive all AM/FM disks as soon as they are released.
-
- If you want to become an AM/FM Dealer, we would love to hear from you. Send
- your order for original AM/FM disk labels (1 GBP each) to:
-
- AM/FM
- c/o Bjorn A. Lynne
- Schleppegrellsgt. 10
- 0556 Oslo
- NORWAY
-
- Along with your order, send a cheque made out to BJORN A. LYNNE, or
- transfer the amount to our Norwegian Post Giro account number 0824 681472.
-
- Once the cheque has been validated, you will receive the first batch of
- original AM/FM disk labels. You will of course also need to get all the
- back issues. These will be sent to you free of charge, but please include
- blank disks to copy them on, so it doesn't get so darn expensive for us.
- (You have no idea what blank disks cost in Norway (and no, we will not
- accept payment in blank disks)).

-
- Advertising Rates
- -------------------
-
- To place your own ad on THE FINAL FRONTIER, simply send the advert in on
- paper (text only) or on disk (as ASCII files or as IFF art files). DON'T send
- any money with the advert.
-
- When we receive the ad, we will crunch it using PowerPacker Professional to
- make the advert as small as possible. You will then be notified of the cost.
- Then send the appropriate amount and we'll publish your ad.
-
- We have revised our advertising rates from the first issue to make them more
- realistic - for small adverts it wouldn't have been worth charging! This will
- also give us more money to offer better competition prizes and to cover our
- ever-increasing costs!
-
- The reason we don't want any money first is because of our advertising rates.
- You will be charged for however much disk space your advert takes up. Simply,
- you will be charged a set amount depending on how many "units" of 100 bytes,
- or part thereof, that your ad uses. The cost per unit is 5p for private
- individuals, fanzines or clubs and 10p per unit for mail order companies, PD
- libraries or shops.
-
- If your advert is not Trek based, e.g. for a Star Wars fan club or for a
- person selling his collection of Blake's Seven merchandise, please add 50% to
- the above rates. Basically, the non-Trek advert rates are 7.5p and 15p per
- unit.
-
- Please note, because of smaller adverts being more expensive to administer
- than the actual income we'd receive, there is a minimum advertising cost of
- £1.
-
- However, Convention organisers can advertise for FREE! We know the hard work
- you put into organising the cons, and the trouble you have in arranging
- guests. A free advert is the least we can do. On top of that, the more people
- that attend a convention, the better it is.
-
- However, so we don't end up having to pay for the adverts ourselves, please
- enclose a SAE so we can contact you to tell you how much money to send.
- Otherwise it would mean that we would have to charge more. For overseas
- advertisers, please send a tested blank disk to cover our postage costs and
- make all payments in U.K currency (cash preferred).
-
- For example, a private ad takes up 15K. We crunch this down to 7032 bytes
- (Note - this isn't an exact figure). You will then be charged for 71 units
- which is:
-
-
- TREK - £ 3.55 - Individuals/clubs
- £ 7.10 - Businesses
-
- NON-TREK - £ 5.33 - Individuals/clubs
- £10.65 - Businesses
-
- Simple, eh? (Don't forget that 15K is about 13 screens full!!)
